Hijos Del Santo
Los Hijos Del Santo originated from Tijuana, Mexico and is composed of 7 members who are active within Christian communities and different music ministries. They provide younger generations with music filled with energy and messages of love, peace, harmony and unity. Their music is based on the genres of ska and reggae fused with a different array of innovative rhythms.
HAWAI
HAWAI is composed of five longtime friends and brothers. Their music has been heard on KROQ and landed spots on the Hype Machine charts. They grew up in Orange County, and from a very young age began writing music together. Their sound is familiar but fresh, unique but still recognizable, bright yet strikingly emotional. Underneath the beachy gusts of guitars and keys, shimmering soul, and iridescent hooks, HAWAI houses inspiring messages through their lyrics.
Los Hollywood
This dynamic band is composed of vocalist and bass player, Heidy Flores, drummer Gustavo Mojica, and guitarist Marcos Mondragon. Their debut EP fused Latin rhythms with a bit of British and American pop rock which captured the attention critics and iTunes Latino, choosing their song, “No Te Aguites” as song of the week. Their contagious and cheery beats are sure to entice every music taste.
Vokab Kompany
Vokab Kompany is a genre-defying masterpiece of sound. With live accompaniments by their four-piece band, they use heavy synths, guitars, bass and drums to create an innovative sound that has garnered them national recognition, having won Best Hip Hop Act at the San Diego Music Awards and featured in shows like The Today Show with Al Roker. The spontaneity of the band’s live performance is what has allowed them to cross genres so effortlessly and continue to surprise fans at amazing music festivals like Lightning in a Bottle.
Santana Soul
Southern California’s Best Santana Tribute Band plays all the Santana classic Latin rock of the past to his Grammy award winning Latin soul of the present. Soaring guitar, inspired vocals and Afro-Latin rhythms that make crowds get up on their feet and dance. Santana Soul’s powerful performances have the sound, energy and passion of Carlos Santana and his band.

While remaining a fixture in the clubs and bars of Mexico City, Tijuana and Guadalajara, DJ Chucuchu brings his infectious rhythms to cities across the United States and Europe.
Perla Negra
Lead by renowned percussionist Charlie Chavez, Perla Negra beats to the sounds of Latin Jazz, Versatile Music, Percussion Ensemble and Traditional Cuban Music. Offering Pop, Salsa, Merengue, Disco, Cumbia and Funk, Perla Negra is guaranteed to be the life of the party while the audience dances the night away.
Gift of Dance School and Company
Founded in 1985 by Director Kathy Villalobos, brings us dances, music, joys and traditions loved for centuries throughout Mexico and the South West. Featured on KPBS and in Old Town, and having performed for Heads of State, Sea World, Mr. Rogers, Joan Kroc and more, these students are excited to invite you to come and enjoy the lively choreography and fun!
Rojas Charos
Juan Loera founder of “Los 11 Hermanos Loera,” has been a pioneer of the art of trick roping (Floreo de Lazo) since 1944 having performed next to Antonio Aguilar for over 10 years. Now his family, Familia Loera “Rojas Charros” following this beautiful tradition, has performed and captivated audiences next to amazing artists like Cheque Peña, Joan Sebastian, Juan Gabriel, and Pedro Fernandez.
Mariachi Real San Diego
Founded in 1978, Mariachi Real De San Diego has established itself as a leader in its genre under the direction of its founder, Pedro Gonzalez. Mariachi Real has performed for television commercials for the Del Mar Racing Season, two Super Bowls, the World Series, the All-Star Game and countless festivals and special events for international corporations and dignitaries.
Los Cardoso Lobo Negro
Lobo Negro, composed by the Tijuana native Cardoso brothers, has been giving their fans the latest in corridos, cumbias, rancheras, and valadas for the past 15 years. Their authentic and energizing rhythms have allowed this Grupo Norteño to tour along California and Baja California putting crowds up on their feet for over a decade.
Manny Cepeda Orchestra
Performer percussionist, composer, singer and arranger Manny Cepeda has been making music all of his life. The energy his compositions bring to the audience is nothing but fire and excitement. His unique music enriches your life culturally as well as socially with his unique combination of sequence and live performance, blending technology and human feel unequalled in the entire West Coast.
GOMA
GOMA is a San Diego, California based band that plays a style of music that can best be described as Psychedelic Cumbia Rock. Drawing mainly from a style of music known as “Chicha”, a style created in mid 60s-mid 70’s in Peru which incorporated Columbian Cumbia, but mixed with Psychedelic/Surf guitar. Blending Chicha with modern rock guitar, Goma embarks on creating a unique sound, and taking the Latin Cumbia scene to the next level.
Charlie Chavez y su Afrotruko
Charlie Chavez was born in Juchitan, Oaxaca and grew up in Coatzacoalcos Veracruz, Mexico. Just like Veracruz, his music is influenced by vibrant and soulful Cuban and Caribbean rhythms. He has become one of the most important percussionists in Southern California, and heads his own salsa group “Afrotruko” which has performed at major venues and festivals in Southern California.

Aquatica’s Junior Chef Competition Featuring Executive Chef Axel Dirolf
Back by popular demand, Aquatica Chef Axel Dirolf will host the Junior Chef Competition on Community Stage at HarborFest.
Returning for the third year, Chef Dirolf will lead the young chefs in producing fresh and bold culinary creations. “I am a big believer in education with kids. I also believe that creativity can drive better eating habits,” said Chef Dirolf. “The presentations from the Junior Chef Competition are very creative. And I’ve seen that young kids will eat different foods, really good food if they are presented creatively.” As for the competition, Chef Dirolf feels that “the art of competition adds a whole other meaning to creativity.”
A panel of judges will decide the winner. The prize will be tickets to Aquatica and its sister park, SeaWorld.

San Diego Youth Symphony Community Opus Project
San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory launched the Community Opus Project in 2010 as a strategy to demonstrate the many benefits of music education, build support for music in the community, and convince school districts to provide music as part of students’ regular curriculum. It has been so successful that within only three years, the Chula Vista Elementary School District committed to providing music education to all of its students and, with the assistance of SDYS, has begun to phase in school day music.
Jerry Olea and the 805 Drifters
Comprised of singer-songwriter Jerry Olea, bass player Chris Ledezma, guitarist/singer Manny Aguirre, and drummer Ian Oneal.
Each member comes from a diverse musical upbringing; Jerry Olea began to sing and play guitar at the age of 13, Prior to forming The 805 Drifters, Jerry fronted the blues band “The Jerry Olea Trio.” Chris Ledezma and Manny Aguirre, each with over 10 years playing bass and guitar, have a variety of musical influences ranging from jazz to rock. Ian Oneal was recruited from the local San Diego band “Adult Fiction” and brings his drumming style to the newly improved band.Together the band thrives off the energy of the music, driving bass, smooth tones and melodies.

A band of edgy and versatile young musicians, Striking Vinyl pays homage to songs made great by classic artists and bands throughout the decades. With Xavier Montalbo providing vocals, backed by Kyle Calgado on guitar, Claussen on bass, and Dakota Walker on drums, listen while they take you back through an expedition of timeless musical hits.
Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater
Founded in 1972 as a 501(c)3 professional company, the San Diego Dance Theater (SDDT) has for 43 years enriched the cultural life of San Diego through countless dance concerts and training for young dancers. Jean Isaacs was appointed Artistic Director in 1997 and under her direction, SDDT has earned its reputation as a company of fully-professional dancers committed to unconventional and deeply courageous programming which expands access to the stage for dancers of many nationalities, races, ages, and physical abilities. They are also known for our cross-border projects, their site-specific Trolley Dances, their summer dance workshops, and for the sheer beauty of their dancers.
Danza Mexi’cayotl
Danza Mex’cayotl was founded on Dec. 12, 1980 when Mario E. Aguilar received recognition from Danza Elders in Mexico City, as a Danza Azteca Capitán (elder), The first Chicano to receive this honor. Since then, the families of Mex’cayotl have dedicated themselves to teaching and preserving the Native American heritage of Mexico and the southwestern U.S; as well a focusing on the education of our community’s youth.
Amy Monzon
Amy Monzon is a pop singer and award-winning dancer from Southern California. As a child, Amy often sang Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” over and over as she danced for a backyard full of imaginary fans. Although dance was the first passion she received training for, making music a career has always been a lifelong dream of Amy’s. Her passion for singing was fueled while performing as a member of the show choir at her high school and serving as the choir’s Dance Captain and the Student Assistant to the Director. The choir competed against many other schools in California as well as nationally. It was at those competitions where Amy was chosen over hundreds of other female students to receive the “Best Female Performer” award.
Halau O’ Makani Kai Polynesian Dance Troupe
Halau O’ Makani Kai can be seen throughout San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County and Las Vegas. The Halau has performed at many functions, such as Corporate and Office Parties, Birthday Parties, Weddings, Anniversaries and Luaus.

Juan Sanchez – Latin Percussion Arts
Juan Sanchez Music offers a growing variety of musical classes and styles. They represent some of the finest and upcoming musicians and performers in Southern California. Enjoy their Latin style entertainment! From Latin Jazz, Rumba to the full blown Hip-Hop sounds with live congas, timbales and many Latin percussion instruments!
On Fifth Duo
On Fifth is an acoustic duo based heavily on vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars as the expressive vessels for two songwriters: Shereen Fahrai and Fedra Ramirez. They are largely influenced by Jazz, Classic Rock, French Chansons, Folk, Blues, and even Funk, and therefore, consider their style to be eclectic. On Fifth first began performing as a group by busking where 5th meets G in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, California (which inspired the naming of the group). As street performers, the two members were able to overcome the industry’s obstacles for newly formed musicians and create their own performance space.
Katriz Trinidad
Katriz is a senior student at Otay Ranch High School and part of Full Effect show choir. She is 17 years and was born and raised in Chula Vista. She started singing at the age of five and competed at the age of seven.
Her biggest accomplishment thus far is being selected as a contestant on the 7th season of The Voice USA, out of thousands of aspiring artists. Being able to work with her coach, Pharrell Williams, mentors Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift and meeting all the other coaches Gwen Stefani, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton was such a great experience. The show garnered much exposure and continues to open opportunities for Katriz. She feels blessed to have been able to take part in such a grand scale such as The Voice and to have shared her talent to millions of viewers. She is deeply humbled by all of the kind words and support.
She sang the National Anthem multiple times at various sports game like the NFL games at Qualcomm Stadium for San Diego Charges, University of Phoenix Stadium for Arizona Cardinals, MLB game at Petco Park for Padres games, NBA Clippers games in Staples Center in LA and at the Poinsettia Bowl in Qualcomm Stadium, various community and school events and much more. Miss San Diego Chelsea Magracia
Chelsea Magracia, Miss San Diego 2016, graduated from the University of California, Irvine majoring in Literary Journalism with a minor in Philosophy. Her platform is supporting Autism Awareness and her talent is ballet. She has had over 18 years of classical ballet training and is currently on the dance team for the San Diego Sockers Professional Indoor Soccer team.
Miss San Diego Outstanding Teen 2016 Thalia Maigue Bendorf
Thalia Rose Maigue Bendorf is a 17 year old powerhouse Chula Vista native. As Miss San Diego’s Outstanding Teen 2016, Thalia represented her beloved city at the Miss America Organization’s Miss California Pageant this summer. It was a great place for her to promote her foundation, KIDabetic-educate, empower and engage communities affected by Diabetes. Thalia is an accomplished dancer that has studied with SD Ballet, Joffrey NYC, MysticDance SD, Culture Shock and USA Champs and USA Representatives to HipHop World Championships, iLL Habits. As a BVHS Senior, she is a 4 year Varsity Cheerleader and this years’ Cheer Captain and very active member of the ASB as the Performing Arts Commissioner. Thalia wants to mentor children to live a healthy and positive lifestyle.
